Glass flooring and stair treads as a design application have gained tremendously in popularity over the last 5 years. Kiln-fired glass is a great material for this application due to unlimited design options, durability, and daylighting which allows stairwells to have much more light than usual with opaque tread materials. Glass stair treads can be made monolithically with annealed glass or in laminated units consisting of tempered glass layers. All flooring and tread projects are reviewed by a glass engineer and walking surfaces are lab tested to meet slip resistance standards prior to manufacturing.
